Reporting information properly helps us to help you

These days community members commonly stay connected and communicate with one another via social media. What police are seeing more and more are threads relating to crime issues in the community asking other members whether or not particular behaviours/ actions/ sounds/ events are suspicious or not, and what subsequent action they should take.
So to clear things up, Centenary Police urge residents to report anything suspicious to Policelink or your local station straight away. This enables police to determine the relevance of the information in context with local crime issues. Please don’t rely on other community members to tell you whether something may be pertinent to police.
Police would also like to remind locals not to report crimes on community pages. If a crime is occurring and you are in danger call Triple Zero (000). If you are not in immediate danger call Policelink or Crime Stoppers.

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) deal with many facets of crime and community issues. Calls for service are prioritised according to urgency and seriousness and endeavours are made to reduce calls for service by proactive initiatives and crime prevention strategies. A routine shift for your local police involves many of these issues, and the day/night is balanced between reactive response and proactive crime prevention. One important role for local police is to reduce the impact of crime in the community. Police acknowledge the fear of crime is a real concern to residents, but it’s important to have a balanced view of the issue and seek the facts.
Community members may be aware of concerns regarding property crime in their neighbourhoods and may wonder what is being done to address the problem. As part of the strategic planning process, Sherwood Police look forward to implementing a local Crime Management Team. This team consists of a specialist
