Lock up and reduce your chance of becoming a victim
Police are currently investigating a number of recent break and enter offences in Upper Mount Gravatt, Sunnybank, Coopers Plains and Parkinson areas.
Unknown offender/s have either cut the flyscreen near the locking mechanism of a door, burnt the security screen or Perspex near the locking mechanism of a door or completely removed the flyscreen from windows to gain entry.
Most of break and enter offences occurred at night while residents were home or asleep.
Police urge residents to re-assess their home security before leaving the house and going to bed. Here are some tips to help you –
Install finger guards on security doors that are not always key-locked.
Install key operated locks or security grills on windows and deadlocks on doors.
Always use your keys to lock your doors and windows even whilst at home.
Do not leave any keys in security locks on your windows or doors.
Lock internal doors from garage into the house.
Use padlocks
Thanks for stopping by Sunnybank Hills residents
Centenary District Crime Prevention deployed the Mobile Police Community Office on Kingman street at Sunnybank Hills on Tuesday. The rainy weather stayed away but the residents didn’t. We were overwhelmed by the number of people who popped in to see us.
Alongside District Crime Prevention staff were our fabulous volunteers, local police officers from Acacia Ridge and Centenary tactician Acting Senior Sergeant Clayton.
Together we answered questions, provided security information, booked security audits and secured number plates with one way screws.
Our next instalment will be on Sunday, March 19 between 10am to 12pm at Beldale Park, Sunnybank hills.
We hope to see you there!
Easter road safety campaign launches as school holidays kick off
Wet conditions will be the biggest threat on Queensland roads as we launch our new road safety campaign to coincide with Easter school holidays.
The campaign, launched earlier today, is urging motorists to drive to conditions and check for road closures before leaving home.
Road Policing Command Assistant Commissioner Mike Keating said extra officers would target the Fatal Five over the school holiday period with a high visibility presence on the roads.
“There will be an increased police presence on the State’s major road networks over the next three weeks, with officers maintaining high visibility in order to discourage the contributing factors of road trauma,” Assistant Commissioner Keating said.
“The 2015 Easter holiday period was the worst year on record for fatalities on our roads. Then 2016 was the best year yet. We’re hoping to replicate the positive result this Easter and would encourage everyone to remain vigilant and make wise decisions on our roads.”
The current

Wet weather warning
What weighs over a ton, hates the rain, is hard to control and may hurt you or others? Your car!
With heavy rain featuring over the next few days, motorists are reminded that extra care must be taken when driving to their destinations.
Apart from reduced visibility, rain affects the safe operation of the car by reducing traction, the ability to steer and stop.
Aqua planning is caused by the tyre skating on the surface of the water, not the road, and results in total loss of control. When you think about it, your car is connected to the road at each corner by a tyre surface the size of your hand. Add water, and that area is reduced even further. By slowing down, the effects of water are reduced, and you maximise the rubber on the road.
After a significant volume of rain, water will pool in low lying areas of the road and
